I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker with 30 years of experience. I am in private practice in Silver Spring, Maryland and in downtown Washington, D.C.

With compassion and respect, I have worked with persons from many walks of life who have varied educational, professional, and ethnic and sexual orientations. I will engage with you during sessions, offering practical advice on occasion while using my psychodynamic, relational and cognitive training to establish the change you desire. I am interested in helping you understand the roots of your problems so that you can experience lasting change.

You may make use of my free telephone consultation or first hour visit to ascertain whether I am the right therapist for you. Your goals are my first priority so I will tell you if I think someone else may better suit your needs.
Adults and young adults experiencing anxiety or low mood and depression are frequently seen in my office. I work with relational issues, whether between siblings, friends, or romantic partners.

Establishing a marital relationship that suits the intimacy, sexual and independence needs of both partners can take effort, especially as partner needs can change with life circumstances. I have helped couples negotiate these concerns.

I have a special interest in all aspects of families and particularly like to help new mothers find their own best relationship with their baby. She have worked with men who are balancing expectations of family life while maintaining a career and women with the same stresses.
Transitions are especially important in families as they offer an opportunity for greater strength along with presenting challenges. If a family should be in the midst of a separation or divorce I can work to help parents to establish "child-first" plans for their family.
