I am a psychologist with years of experience in providing therapy and psychological evaluations for adults, adolescents, families, and couples. I use cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused methods in my practice. My approach to therapy involves a focus on helping you find your own way to improve your situation and how to best increase what you are already doing to help yourself so that you can experience a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

I have expertise in dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual assault issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, as well as psychological and psychological and psycho-educational assessment.

I am fluent in Spanish and I also specialize in incorporating cultural and diversity issues into my practice.

Education:
I received a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Sociology in 1997 at the University of Florida. I then obtained a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Miami in 1999. I went back to the University of Florida to complete my Ph.D., where I worked on research related to emotional expressions within the family, body image among Latinas, and my doctoral dissertation was on the study of “objectification theory” as it contributes to eating disorders in Latinas. I received the Ph.D. in the Psychology Department at the University of Florida in 2005. I completed my psychology internship and some post-doctoral training at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, with a focus on cultural diversity issues in psychotherapy and on treatment of dual diagnoses of substance abuse and mental health issues.
