Overview
People seek therapy not because they are "broken" -- though they may initially believe that -- but because they are "stuck." The ways they have learned to handle pain, anxiety, fear, anger, etc. are not working but are so over-learned and reinforced that there appear to them to be no options. My job is to help people learn to see the options and work through the inevitable discomfort of doing something new to an increased level of psychological flexibility. From this can rise a meaningful and values-consistent way of living that is its own reward. Therapy, while expensive, is an investment in one's life and future.
