Simone Schmale, MS Ed., LCPC
Associates in Family Care
Licensed Professional Counselor (Illinois: 180006414)

Overview
Simone is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who joins AFC in Naperville and Lake Zurich. Her clinical experience was gained in a variety of settings including an inpatient hospital for children and adolescents, and a Partial Hospitalization Program for adolescents and adults, which also provided a specialized program for substance abuse, and outpatient treatment centers. Simone also serves as clinical advisor to the West Suburban Bipolar Group located in DuPage County.

Simone works effectively with families on multi-dimensional concerns from couple connection, parenting, and developmental stages to healing from life's traumas and disappointments and advocating within larger systems which influence families and their children. A tenacious and compassionate counselor, Simone's clients enjoy her collaborative approach as she assists multiple family members and individuals to alleviate the strain of life stressors, traumas, and multiple needs and reach their individual and collective goals.

Simone is trained in assisting clients to work through sexual abuse and other traumas that traditional talk therapy, at times, is unable to alleviate. Simone has co-led Psychodrama groups at a Partial Hospitalization Program and attended the national conference for Psychodrama.

Simone is also passionate about serving adolescents and children. Simone has developed programming that assists adolescents to discover their unique strengths and possibilities while preparing for life transitions after graduation, which she instituted while volunteering and interning at Bartlett High School. She has also taught career classes to freshmen and sophomores at Northern Illinois University and is pursuing doctoral training.

Prior to becoming a mental health professional, Simone worked in communications for various corporations, newspapers, and non-profit organizations. In addition, Simone is a professionally trained singer and musician receiving awards and scholarships for her performances. As a result, Simone draws upon her valuable, diverse experiences as she guides and inspires others to reach their goals with compassion, dignity and tenacity and navigate complex systems that compete or conflict with their goals.

Simone lives in Wheaton with her husband and baby daughter.
