Northeast Counseling & Coaching

Overview
After years of general practice, I have specialized my skills in the treatment of trauma and PTSD. I enjoy working with adults, adolescents and children who have experienced abuse, domestic violence, trauma, and childhood neglect. As the helper, I am trained to create safety and stabilization first, then use methods to reprocess and reintegrate. This means employing skills learned during stabilization and the insights gained during reprocessing to allow for more adaptive functioning. I am a Certified EMDR therapist through EMDRIA.

Trauma is not always flashbacks and anxiety. It can be experienced through intrusive symptoms, avoidance, alterations of cognition and mood, and arousal and reactivity symptoms. This includes anger. Trauma does not have to be PTSD, either. Anyone can have traumatic experiences that affect their thoughts and beliefs.

I am currently only taking new clients with trauma or abuse in their history. My preferred treatment method is EMDR. Parents and caregivers must be willing and emotionally capable to be present with their child in treatment, I am also interested in working with veterans and first responders.
