Arthur M. Bodin, Ph.D., ABPP
Licensed Psychologist (California: PSY3007) Marriage and Family Therapist (California: MFC2707)
Overview
www.familyandmarriage.com I tailor the approach to each person or family and each set of concerns and I avoid a 'one size fits all' approach. Many people find it useful to focus largely on the present, to explore the past when it promises to unlock possibilities for new directions, and to focus on the future when planning for realistic change. Brief therapy is often possible and sometimes even preferable. My belief that many concerns can be resolved with brief therapy opens the door for individuals, couples, and families to discover how to cope efficiently with specific problems or concerns.
In the first session we accomplish these six steps: Get a picture of your strengths; Define the problems or concerns; Learn how you've been trying to deal with these concerns so far; Learn your goals; Jointly sequence your goals; Develop a plan.
I specialize in helping people with their relationship concerns in their family, social, or work life. Some typical situations in which people find working on relationships helpful are concerns about getting married, improving marriage and/or parenting, getting divorced, coping with divorce, considering remarriage and dealing with 'blended family' issues.
